Locally

Weymouth is a classic beach resort at the heart of the newly designated “World Heritage Coast”. A seaside town and favourite with leisure boats, Weymouth was originally a fishing village, and grew in the 17th century to become a major seaside resort.

King George III spent his summers in the town, and the curves of the Georgian Esplanade look out over Weymouth Bay and its safe, clean sandy beach. There is a busy harbour with ferries to the Channel Islands and France. Weymouth is also hosting the sailing events for the Olympics in 2012.
